She made me an offer I couldn't refuse ...

"Honey, I just booked us on a cruise from Barcelona to Rome!  You  have 10 days to cancel ..."    Tick, tick, tick ...

And so began our plans for a European vacation in 2012.

Stitching together enough miles to upgrade, we'll fly first-class to Barcelona, where we'll have a few days to sample tapas where they were invented and adjust to a 6 hour change in timezones. We'll then board the familiar Regent Mariner (our Alaska ship) for our first week.

We'll disembark in Rome and dash to the airport for a short flight to Palermo so I can finally visit my family's homeland in Tusa, Sicily.

After what will be an all too short visit to Sicily, it's back to Rome for a few days of touring and a chance to meet my cousin Giovanni and his family.
