Just a quiet evening on board?

We were sitting in the Observation Deck for a late evening drink, looking over St Tropez for the last time before retiring. We noticed some lightning over the mountains. Five minutes later, the skies opened and a hard rain fell. More lightning ... wait, that's not lightning, it fireworks! Fireworks? We step on on deck to watch and notice the crew trying to hoist the tender back on board from the storm tossed waves. A few more passengers gathered and we men watched intently, commenting on how we would best proceed while the ladies, having more sense, stepped out of the rain and waited patiently for us. Without using any of our strategies, the crew succeeded.

After that adventure, we think one more drink is in order to celebrate, so it's off to the Connoisseur Club for (another) nightcap where we meet John Tabbut-McCarthy, a Londoner and Regent's resident "enrichment historian" who presents a live/videotaped lecture on our daily destinations. John has lived all over the world, is a private guide to Buckingham Palace for visiting dignitaries and a professor of history. Needless to say, his personal insights on everything from the future of the British monarchy to the commercialization of Bar Harbor Maine (where his 'Gram' still lives) , made for fascinating conversation.
